Regarding the Sept. 12 article "Nothing was lost in translation in Saitama mugging trial, peers believe": An "interpreter" is someone who transfers spoken dialogue from one language to another; interpreters speak. A "translator" transfers written language from one language to another; translators write. The terms "translator/translation" and "interpreter/interpretation" should not be used interchangeably.
